The Problem

Dents and little dings in a vehicle are more than unsightly; they reduce its value and can make it less desirable, should you decide to sell it.  Until recently there was only one way to fix them.  You had to make an appointment at your body shop, arrange to drop it off and pick it up, and go without your vehicle for two to three days while the body was worked and painted.  If you were lucky, the paint matched, you couldn’t see the repairs, and the rest of the car wasn’t covered with over spray. Today, auto body work and paint is billed higher than ever.

Many people with paid off vehicles are spending their insurance checks on necessities and driving them with unsightly dents.  In today’s economy, gasoline and groceries often take a front seat to repairing dents.  My DENT Guy is finding solutions for these instances.  Frequently, we will tell customers when their damage needs to be sent to a body shop for perfect repairs because of their extensiveness.  More often than not, these days, people are opting for a PDR repair slightly less than perfect for a fraction of the cost.  See our “BIG NASTY DENT” section for before and after photos of some examples.  In many cases the customer can drop off their vehicle, go grocery shopping and run some errands, and pick up their car looking close to new for a fraction of the conventional repair estimate price.

The Green Solution:

100% environmentally friendly – low cost alternative.
No hazardous fillers, putty, paint, thinners, or disposable materials.

The art of PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR (PDR) is more than an alternative to standard auto bodywork.  It is by far, a better solution to the minor dings and dents most vehicles pick up in parking lots and garages.  In fact, it is the closest thing to the damage having never happened in the first place.  PDR is the art of manipulating the metal and paint back to their original shape from behind the damaged area.  Many specialized tools are used to fit into hard to reach places, and “massage” the metal back into place.  There is no painting required and the procedure takes less than an hour in most cases.  The vehicle never leaves your yard, and remains factory original.  Attaining access to the back of the damaged area has a lot to do with the outcome of the repair.  My DENT Guy has invested several thousand dollars in specialized and state of the art tools to assure access to the most difficult to reach areas.  While many people selling PDR attend a short two week training course, My DENT Guy is continuously updating our training from various master technicians across the country.

You, as a consumer should be aware of the facts.  Most so called PDR “schools” are nothing more than companies which sell PDR tools.  They make huge profits on “packages” which they sell, and offer second rate training to the technician/trainee.  The PDR student leaves with a huge bill on their credit card and the most basic knowledge of removing a small ding, and are told to practice at home until they master the craft.  In order to pay down their debt, many of these people will go out and practice on the consumer.   To learn these skills properly, and individual needs one on one training from an independent instructor.  When choosing someone to work on your vehicle, ask where they were trained.

No matter what other's claim,... My DENT Guy is THE most highly trained and skilled PDR company in the Boston area, and we will PROVE IT!

Choosing a PDR Technician

  • Make sure the company has liability insurance.

  • Ask if they are certified by a THIRD PARTY facility which specializes in training. Not a company which sells PDR tools and offers shoddy teaching as a side line.

  • Check how long they have been working in PDR.  You don’t want people practicing on your vehicle.

  • Ask if they are a member of the National Alliance of PDR Technicians, (NAPDRT).  This non profit organization promotes unity, quality, integrity, and education.  www.napdrt.org

Our Mission

These days it seems every company wants to be a major player, a huge conglomerate, or franchise.  Our competition is often just that.  While they try to own it all at any cost, we look at our business quite differently. Our mission is to do our very best to make each and every customer happy, one at a time.  We understand that it is not always possible to attain 100 % perfection.  PDR is an art, not a science.  If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.  We don’t try to sell you on anything.  The options and prices are explained to the best of our ability so that we have an educated customer, aware of the facts.  It then becomes their decision to proceed with our method of repair, or choose another option. To summarize:  Our mission is to save the customer money and make them happy with as little effort on their part as possible.  All that with no environmental issues!  What more could we ask for?

Company Profile

My DENT Guy is located on and serves Boston's South Shore area.  Our technician began auto body repair training at Quincy Vocational - Technical School in 1969.  In 2000, after a long career in several automotive related fields he began training with many of the most skilled PDR specialists across the country.  He has accumulated techniques and unique skills from trainers and technicians from Pennsylvania, Kansas, Florida, Texas, and California, and continues learning new skills today.

Our company doesn't repair paint scratches, windshield chips, or interiors as a sideline, like some other companies.  Small DENTs are our business, our ONLY business.  We maintain the highest skill level in the industry. Although not all DENTs can be repaired with PDR; if we can't fix your damage, it's extremely unlikely that you will find anyone who can.
